About the A-Box 5:

Two integrated ABACUS transconductance amplifiers provide full control of the integrated transducers. The built-in high resolution digital signal processor (DSP) ensures a smooth frequency response. Further it boosts the frequency response below the woofer resonance, allowing for a deep bass down to 16 Hz; something which does not work with conventional amplifiers.

Driven by the ABACUS amplifiers the integrated transducers do what they are supposed to do, i.e. converting the audio signal to sound waves without altering the signal characteristics. Despite its small enclosure volume the A-Box 5 provides a high dynamic range and an astonishing spatial sound image. Suddenly, fine details in long-known music CDs are audible, which have never been audible before.

The A-Box 5 performs in all kinds of situations:
• in combination with a preamplifier or a CD-Player,
• replacing the passive loudspeakers delivered with conventional compact hi-fi systems or
• with a PC or Mp3-Player.

Due to its adjustable bass roll-off, the A-Box 5 can easily be integrated as a surround speaker in any home cinema. Beyond that, using the A-Box 5 in combination with the RIBass, the high-quality sounds can reach higher sound pressure levels, too.

In addition to its continuously adjustable volume control and bass roll-off frequency control, the A-Box 5 features an automatic start-up which switches on the loudspeaker if an audio signal is present at the input and turns off after one minute of silence. If desired, this mechanism can of course be deactived on the rear of the loudspeaker and the A-Box 5 is switched on and off by a conventional power switch.

An overload protection is integrated, indicating an overload of the loudspeaker (red LED) and an overload of the audio input (yellow LED).

The power supply is realized using a 50 Watt toroidal transformer and a charge capacity of 20'000 µF. This ensures a generous energy buffer for strong impulses.
